SENIOR ABAP DEVELOPER

Location : Houston

Duration 6 Months

 

Consults, primarily with one functional area, in identifying the technical capabilities to support business process design of long-chain processes. The objective is to support common global processes utilizing as much standard SAP capability as possible.

*Provides deep ABAP development knowledge within a specific SAP module in active support of the business process design effort.

*Operates at both a strategic and tactical level *Leads cross training for areas of responsibility *Designs complex interfaces and reports with minimal direction from functional developers or expert SAP developers. Interactive design with end users.

*Performs prototyping of new functionality as it relates to ABAP. Provides design direction to ABAP *Developers for components of the design or prototypes.

*Understands and follows the ABAP development standards. Makes suggestions when changes are identified as needed.

*Develops technical specifications from functional specifications supplied by the function development team. Assists other ABAP developers as needed.

*Performs simple to complex ABAP development for reports, and interfaces. This would include BDC's and Call Transactions with detailed specifications.

*Proposes ABAP development solutions based on customer requirements and internal knowledge of standard business practices while working with the functional teams.

*Works with developers from multiple teams to define and perform long-chain tests in the development environment.

*Helps business identify negative or exception testing areas.

*Completes detailed white box testing of configuration design solutions.

*Completes detailed test plans for interfaces, ABAP and BW *Tests own transports, assists Business resources in execution of tests. Provides guidance to other Developers in regards to testing. Proposes and/or develops test cases *Resolves complex production problems.

*Assist the business in the development of conversion databases and data tables *Works with Basis to perform R/3 Upgrades. Also works with Basis to support application of Hot Packs/Patches.

*Performs evaluations of new SAP functionality and upgrades to existing functionality within their area of responsibility.

Required:

*7 years overall IT experience with 5+ years in SAP related work

*5 years in selected skill ABAP

*Has SAP knowledge and has been working with ABAP/SAP and has a strong understanding of at least one functional area.

*Has a network of SAP/ABAP experts at other companies or with SAP to obtain advice on designs and resolutions to problems *Testing *General understanding of the BW tool.

*Consulting skills are limited to a specific functional area.

*Has extensive business knowledge in one area.
