Position: Sr Software Engineer - Java with Swing

Location: Milwaukee, WI

Duration: 1 year

Rate: Open

 

Job Description:

Seeking an experienced software engineer skilled in developing user interface (UI) features using Java Swing and possibly other languages/technologies.

 

Duties:

• Work within a team of engineers to develop new and enhanced features within an existing user interface application.
• Conform to various software development and business processes.

Responsibilities may include:

• Analyze and refine requirements for user interface development.
• Design and implement UI software to meet requirements, including producing detailed design documentation.
• Contribute to design and code inspections.
• Provide input to technical discussions; propose solutions and alternatives.
• Analyze cost effectiveness and feasibility.
• Provide work estimates; perform tradeoffs between implementation, schedule and cost and resource constraints, and recommend alternatives.
• Provide technical expertise to less experienced developers.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related discipline to be determined by business needs or equivalent technical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years related software development experience.
• Strong software design and written communication skills.
• Must have exceptionally good Java Swing programming skills.

Pluses:

• Additional skills in C# .NET, various design patterns, Java Web Start, familiarity with TSP/PSP processes, user experience design.
• Candidate must be local and available for face-to-face interview.
