Job Title: Data Architect  

Who can Apply: U.S. citizens and H-1Bs accepted 

Job Location:Columbia, SC 

Job Duration: 6 months with a possible 1 year extension 

Job Type: On-site 40 hours a week 

Bill Rate Range: Open 

Job Description: 


The candidate will provide IBM WebSphere Administration related to the upgrade of WebSphere 6.0.x to 

WebSphere 6.1.x and the support of three separate installations. 


The Data Architect must have an in-depth knowledge of WebSphere in both the Linux and AIX environments and 

IBM's HTTP Server. The Data Architect must be able to configure the new version of WebSphere and the IBM 

HTTP Server as seamless as possible to all customers. The Data Architect must have experience with unit testing, 

integration testing, etc. for the upgrade. 


Specific Duties and Responsibilities 


. Work with application and system teams to define upgrade paths. 

. Work with application teams to assure that upgrade has not caused any problems. 

. Maintain documentation of all steps taken during the upgrade. 

. Work with end-users and the Help Desk to quickly resolve user upgrade issues 

. Assist in the design of new functionality as additional requirements are identified by customers. 




Skills Required: 


. Extensive knowledge of WebSphere 6.0.x Network Deployment and WebSphere 6.1.x Network Deployment 

in both an AIX and Linux environment. 

. Extensive knowledge of IBM HTTP Server that will be used with WebSphere 6.1.x. 

. Successful completion of upgrades in the IBM WebSphere environments 

. Working knowledge of JDBC connectivity from WebSphere to Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, 

IDMS, and Adabas databases. 



. Working knowledge of SSL. 

. Must have significant experience in J2EE application deployment using IBM's WebSphere. 

. Proven ability to deliver high-quality results 

. Experience in the development of project documentation (functional specifications, technical specifications, 

test plans, etc.) 

. Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills (with all levels of the organization) and a very 

good command of the English language 

. Ability to work with diverse groups and work within the team environment 

. Ability to communicate complex ideas and subjects accurately, clearly and concisely 

. Ability to transfer knowledge to developers and functional teams 

. Proven organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to build and maintain partnerships within different 

business units 

. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, complete important time sensitive tasks, adapt quickly to last minute 

changes and manage multiple projects 

. Extensive J2EE Development Experience 

. Oracle Database Experience a plus.
