Client is looking for Electrical Engineer - Validation - Santa Barbara, CA. This is a 6+ months Contract position. The hourly rate is $40/hr on W2. Prefers local candidates (within daily driving distance from work site), national candidates will be considered however they MUST pay for their own flight out for the in-person interview and MUST relocate themselves to work onsite. US Citizens only.
Job Description:
We are looking for a EE to help on a security product development. We don't necessarily need a senior engineer but do need a high energy engineer that has excellent attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot electronics systems independently. This is a job that requires a high degree of self direction and flexibility to handle issues as they arise. It's a complicated product platform with visible and infrared cameras on a pan/tilt base for commercial security applications. The pan/tilt unit and the housing was designed and is built overseas. It's not well documented and has many issues that need to be identified, resolved and validated. We integrate our cameras and a processor board into the unit, test and ship from Santa Barbara. The individual needs to have excellent communication skills both verbally and in written form. Documentation will be an important part of the job so the individual must be able to write clearly in plain English.
There are four areas of job responsibility:
1. Hardware Checkout: Develops a working knowledge of the Westwind product such that pre-production systems can be tested to a set of TBD criteria.
2. System Troubleshooting: Troubleshoots emergent design and manufacturing issues as the Westwind product transitions to production.
3. Board Design: We may need do a board spin.
4. Electronics Production Test: Works with contract manufacturers to define and develop electronics testing on the FLIR universal functional tester.
Basic Skill set required:
1. Electrical system troubleshooting
a. Must be able to read schematics
b. Must be able to read PCB files
2. General knowledge of electrical system design
a. System grounding
b. Lightning strike prevention
c. Logic design
d. Understanding of analog circuit behavior
BSEE(desired)
2+ years experience OR highly skilled non-degreed engineer/tech with 10+ years.
Experience with CMOS and/or infrared cameras is a plus.
