Position: GIS Analyst

Location:Memphis, TN

Duration: 1 Year

Rate: DOE

Job description 

Candidate should have 95% of skills and have excellent communication skills

Produce map products and map data

Perform complex GIS analysis using various data sources

Data capturing, converting and editing

Ensure that metadata is compliant with FGDC standards for all city map layers

Complex GIS analyses with a variety of data formats, Shape Files, Personal Geodatabases, Third Party data sources (Oracle, SQL Server, Excel, Access, etc.), images

Work as part of the GIS team to develop distributed products via web-based technology and desktop software 

Data management: 

Maintain the GIS database portal and distribute data to city departments

Software/hardware installation and updates

Work with stakeholders of various City Divisions on data creation, maintenance, distribution and mapping projects

Prepares presentation maps for meetings, conferences and other public viewing

Maintains awareness of current advances in technology as it relates to GIS and provide pertinent information to the GIS team

Performs other related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

 

Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, Computer Science or other related field.  

2-3 years professional working experience in GIS techniques and methodologies

Expertise in ESRI software 

Experience in utilizing Geographic Position System (GPS) technology, coordinate systems to develop spatial models and maps

Windows Operating Systems environment experience

Knowledge of industry standard data models for municipal government agencies

Experience working with municipal, county, state and national land map data and attribute information

Working knowledge of GIS Database administration (SDE, ArcGIS Server) 

Experience in GIS application development utilizing (VB, .NET, ArcGIS Server)

Telecom Operations

Administer changes to Nortel PBX systems

Administer changes to Call Parrot

Administer changes to Symposium

Administer changes to Telephony Manager

Administer changes to Element Manager

Administer changes to Call Pilot

Administer changes to Switchview

Advise customer on best practices for Telephony

Troubleshoot any Nortel PBX issue, ELAN, CLAN, Signaling Server, VoIP

Troubleshoot any issue with Call Parrot

Troubleshoot any issue with Symposium

Troubleshoot any issue with Telephony Manager

Troubleshoot any issue with Element Manager

Troubleshoot any issue with Call Pilot

Troubleshoot any issue with Switchview

Astute at replacing hardware

Astute at configuring and restoring software 

Familiarity with BMC Service Desk Express a plus

 

Must be able to be in on-call rotation with existing staff which includes nights, weekends, and holidays.

Must have a customer service demeanor as the position is customer facing.

Must be able to clear a background check.

Must be a team player and willing to come to the aid of other technicians.

Must work hours as scheduled, which may be from 6AM to 3PM up to 9AM to 6PM.

Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and able to handle changes in direction without issue.
