{Ajax-DOT-NET-FAQ} Urgent need need of C++ FIX Support Developer in Chicago, IL for 6-9+ month contract

Title: C++ FIX Support Developer
Location: Chicago, IL
Duration: 6-9+ month contract

The consultant should be USC or GC or EAD

Overview:
This is a Chicago based Contractor position that can go anywhere from 6-9+
months.  Local candidates to Chicago are most preferred who can start ASAP. 
We do not need a superstar C++ Guru for this, but rather a person that can
do support and not mind doing maintenance.  There is no cutting edge
development taking place here currently and there may not be in the near
future as well, so this person should be fine with the support aspects of
the job.  This person needs to have an understanding of finance (FIX
preferred) and also be able to communicate well. 

Qualifications:
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design fundamentals.
• Solid understanding of Software Development Life Cycle steps.
• 3+ years experience in C++ in multi-threaded environment.
• Experience working with FIX, Tibco, and/or other high performance
messaging systems.
• Solid skills in scripting languages.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic familiarity with financial markets and trading strategies with good
attention to detail.
 
Personality characteristics:
• Ability to communicate effectively with traders and bridge gap between
their wants/needs and the technical work that is required.
• Strong work ethic and intensity with ability to multitask.  Understand and
react positively to the "real-time" demands of supporting a 24-hour trading
enterprise.
• Self starter and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong team player.

Duties and responsibilities:
• The person who joins FXGT IT group will work closely with members of FX
trading desk and other Execution Technology and Trade Management Team's IT.
• This individual is expected to provide technical expertise to support
execution related infrastructure as well as our home grown auto trading
system on daily basis.
• (S)he must demonstrate ability to analyze complex business/technical
problems and make sound technical decisions proactively and in a
self-directed manner.
• The role will utilize C++ in UNIX/Linux environment, scripting, SQL.
 
Key responsibilities include:
• Provide support to all FIX connections, work with brokers/vendors to set
up new connections and enhance current connectivity where necessary.
• Coordinate exploration, development and deployment of new liquidity from
ECN's/banks into our execution platform.
• Maintenance of the current trading APIs that desk uses.  
• Work with traders on supporting automated trading strategies, including
troubleshooting market-data/trading issues including latency, fill issues
with ECNs and adding new functionalities to the core library.
• Generate ad-hoc reports/statistics on trades/fill-rates/volumes as
necessary.
• Work with back office on allocating execution and clearing charges to the
position blocks.
• Second level of support to our real time risk system.
