We are looking for  DB2 DBA Admin
Location: Denver, CO
Duration: 6+ Months

 
Database Administrator-Intermediate
Looking for a strong development DBA to support multiple database initiatives ranging from mission critical OLTP databases to backend analytical databases, from design to deployment, as part of the database development team. Will be working on multiple projects in different phases of the SDLC. Primary focus of the application DBA is to support application teams to deliver highly optimized solutions incorporating replication, encryption/security, highly tuned queries and robust physical database implementation. 

Responsibilities: 
1. Working with developers, business analysts and architects on database requirements and model designs. 
2. Tuning application queries (ETL and web services) for performance optimizations. 
3. Supporting development and testing database environments and data refreshes for testing support. 
4. Supporting Production DBAs and application support teams in root cause analysis and resolution of database performance issues as required. 
5. Lead database change control 

Preferred Experience: 
-DB2 experience - 7+ years -Both as Application and production DBA, preferably in Financial services. 
-DB2 9+ later experience with must haves - queue replication, partitioning/clustering,REORG, Design Advisor, worklaod manager, Database encryption ( PCI Compliance etc.) 
-Application Dev Support - Hands-On experience of Bind/Rebind/Query optimization/Explain support to Dev/ETL teams, Bulk Load, SQL and PL/SQL (oracle compatibility), experience supporting JDBC interfaces in JBoss/WebSphere environments, Hands -on Unix/Linux scripting, preferably Perl scripting. 

Prefer a multi- database DBA with added Oracle DB experience - V10g or later in a high volume analytical data environment.
Top 3 technical skills needed: 

1. Very strong DB2/UDB/AIX DBA with hands-on experience in database performance tuning, SQL query optimization and AIX/Shell/Perl scripting for database automation. 
2. Strong skills in logical to physical conversion for OLTP, ODS and Data Marts for UDB and Oracle databases and be willing to independently develop logical designs for projects. 
3. Strong working knowledge of DB2 tools, AIX/Linux OS, Database encryption, replication/HADR, XML, DB2/Java and Purescale or other clustering. 

Prefer a multi- database DBA with added Oracle DB experience - V10g or later in a high volume analytical data environment. 

Preferred Characteristics: 
1. Flexible – understands view points and adopts to changes easily 
2. Communication – Timely and clear communication of status views and issues. 
3. Passion – Passionate about delivering high quality and advanced database solutions
