Job Title: SQL BI Developer
Location:  Redwood City, CA(Need Only Local Consultant)
Duration:  6+ months
 
Responsibilities:
Contribute substantially in the implementation of business intelligence solutions using Tableau, SQL Server 2005/2008 Integration Services, Analysis & Reporting Services and Business
Intelligence Studio. Contribute substantially in understanding business reporting needs, gathering & documenting Data Warehouse & Reporting requirements.
Contribute substantially in Data Warehouse development lifecycle from business requirements to development of logical design, translation to physical design, ETL code development and testing using SQL Server 2008 Business Intelligence Development tools.
Contribute substantially in defining the report functional specifications based on business user requirements.
Define, implement, and QA & performance tuning of reports.
Cross train and mentor other report developers in efficient report design techniques.
Contribute substantially in report query optimization, Index design and Planning, Index analysis and tuning.
Contribute substantially in technical review of SQL code with peers and design review with end-user audience.
Participate in the testing & deployment of database code to QA & Production, managing database source code & scripts and updating & maintaining data models.
Contribute substantially in maintaining and monitoring Enterprise Data Warehouse System (EDW) on production and development servers.
Collaborate with the QA team to create and execute system test plans and user-acceptance testing.
 
Qualifications:
Hands-on experience in building enterprise reports with major professional report building software packages such as SQL Server Reporting Services, Business Objects, Hyperion BRIO, etc.
Hands-on experience with aspects of the Data Warehouse lifecycle including data analysis, data modeling & design (preferably using STAR schema approach).
Experience with ETL development with tools such as Integration Services.
Experience with setup & optimization of the operational data streams using scheduling tools
Hands-on experience designing, scripting, and tuning report queries using ANSI-SQL (SQL-92) syntax. Familiarity with some advanced T-SQL usage patterns to solve common query and aggregate reporting problems.
Experienced in enterprise level report deployments, upgrades, conversions and operations.
Must be experienced in troubleshooting issues, working with vendor support team is required.
Candidate must have a high comfort level with report terminology and concepts such as drill-down, roll-up, aggregation, etc.
Technical understanding of database-related aspects of the software development lifecycle such as change control management, unit testing, packaging and deployment of database changes and management of database source code projects.
Familiarity with entity relationship modeling tools and be able to maintain database logical model and schema diagrams.
Hands on experience and knowledge of modern data warehousing principles and practices a plus.
Solid analytical skills and integration knowledge
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Effective verbal and written communication skills
