RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Network Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the organizations LAN and WAN networks. Duties include the analysis of the organizations business needs, and then supporting those business needs through the design, implementation, and maintenance of the network infrastructure. A good understanding of available network operating systems, network equipment, and networking protocols is essential, as the candidate will be required to monitor and troubleshoot any problems within the network. Strong communications skills are desired, as the Network Engineer must be able to create network plans, document the existing network, and communicate with business partners to establish connectivity. Additional responsibilities include negotiating with technical solution providers and vendors to provide recommendations on equipment purchases and upgrades to the existing network infrastructure.
A strong background in network security is a plus, as the Network Engineer will be required to help ensure that the organizations network infrastructure complies with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
Skills/Experience:
CCNP or CCDP
Minimum five (5) years experience with Cisco Routers/ Switches
Strong proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP)
Strong proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting Layer 2 networking (VLANS, Spanning-Tree,)
Experience in working with IPSec VPN, PIX/ASA Firewalls, SSL VPN, PKI encryption, and AAA.
Experience in working with HSRP, VoIP, QoS, VSS, VMPS, PBR, PVLAN, and other IOS features.
Understanding of SNMP, NTP, TCP/IP, and Windows Systems.
Knowledge of Ciscos product linesDESIRED SKILLS:
CISSP, CCSP, or other Security Certifications.
Experience with Cisco or Avaya VoIP IP Telephony / VoIP
F5 Load-Balancers
IDS / IPS
Solarwinds Orion or other SNMP-based monitoring
In-depth knowledge of Ciscos product lines. (Performance / Feature restrictions for each platform and IOS version)
